Autism Support Groups
There are support groups and ASA (Autism Society of America) chapters all over the country. You can find these local groups at the website autismsource.org. This website lists all the ASA chapters available, along with physicians and government agencies related to autism.
If you operate a group or organization, you can have it listed at autismresource.org, or if listed you can update your information as well. The search function at the website allows you to search by state, city, zip code and country, ensuring that you narrow the search to as close as possible to your location.
It's important to get involved with these support groups and chapters to receive all the latest information regarding autism. Most of the chapters are led by volunteers, which can range from parents of children who have the disorder, along with caregivers and other professionals.
You'll have access to Medicaid waiver programs which would first determine if you are eligible. This can vary from state to state, so be sure to review the process for your particular state. Once deemed eligible you can receive help with the care giving for the person with the disorder. Be sure to contact the Developmental Disabilities Council within your state to receive all the necessary information regarding this.
